Our wide ranging expertise has been gained through working with the challenges and needs of diverse sectors and buildings from a large-scale food processing plant, to a NHS hospital, a heritage building and a residential home for elderly people.  The challenges are all different, as are the solutions delivered, but answering these diverse challenges has provided us with a wealth of knowledge, and the ability to apply lessons learned from one sector to another, and provide cost effective and environmentally sound solutions across the board.

With any new building, whether a manufacturing plant, hospital or residential home, there is the luxury of not having to account for residents, workers or patients in situ.  Our team delivers successful solutions for many new build projects, working as part of the overall build team.   It is in refurbishment projects where the expertise and experience of our team comes into its own.  We understand the constraints, and the more onerous health and safety issues, and have considerable experience working in environments where disruption needs to be minimal.  We have developed a number of techniques and skills over the years to improve the way we work in buildings where people are present to minimise disruption and downtime.

We are committed to providing successful solutions and total satisfaction, and work with clients at every stage providing status updates and advising of any changes to specification as needed.  Client satisfaction is key to our success, and our team takes pride in the advice they give, the solutions they provide and installations they complete.

Acorn MPS has commitment to continual improvement across the entire process, in the methods we use and the people we employ.  We make considerable investment in training our people so that they are fully conversant with current regulations and directives, and are using the most appropriate modern methods to design, build and install mechanical and electrical services.

Acorn MPS offer full and comprehensive estimating services to all sectors requiring current, fixed or budget prices for electrical and mechanical systems. We are also able to tailor turnkey estimates for a complete package relative to other disciplines associated with the project.

Our estimation system uses the market leading building services “Estimation Software” this powerful software includes a full enquiry management system with fully integrated live data updates of products, maximising efficiency and ensuring up to date prices are used, with the additional capability of producing bills of quantity.

Once an order is placed with Acorn MPS the information used for estimating the project costs are integrated into the Contract Management section of the software, ensuring accurate and efficient transfer of data which is then used as an integrated element of our Project Management process.

Our success revolves around our ability to work closely with each client to develop the most efficient and effective solution for providing the service they require, satisfying their current needs whilst allowing the flexibility within design for future development. Sustainability is in-built, utilising low carbon design coupled to the efficient use of products and engineering experience.

Flexibility of approach allows Acorn MPS to offer design for a single system through to multi-million pound new build projects using computer aided design to exploit the benefits of speed of delivery at each stage of the design

With the implementation of the CDM Regulations and the need for tighter control of site activities, programmes and contractors, Acorn MPS can offer the services of the company in the role of Principal Contractor and/or Project Manager.

For complex schemes, often in operational plants, we are employed to manage the whole scheme from inception to handover for the client. Quite often this will involve the writing of briefs and the tendering of electrical, control, structural and associated works, and the procurement of plant and equipment on behalf of the client.

On-site facilities can include:

  • full site management, scaled appropriately for the needs of the project
  • taking control of site management, health and safety issues, exception monitoring and reporting
  • full liaison with the client’s consultants and in-house staff
  • on-site CAD drawing office facilities, for projects of sufficient size and scope

As a core principle of our business Acorn MPS is committed to achieving an incident and injury free environment for all personnel and members of the wider community

All necessary ‘Method Statements’ and ‘Risk Assessments’ are compiled by our engineers who hold the following qualifications:

  • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health)
  • ISOH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) standards
