The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust has opened a first-of-its-kind community rehabilitation facility to support the safe and timely discharge of patients from hospital.
The new 25-bed standalone unit, named Preston Lodge, is designed for patients who no longer require acute hospital care but would benefit from further recovery or rehabilitation before returning home.
Acorn MPS is proud to have played a key role in delivering this innovative facility, working alongside main contractor Charles Henry & Sons. We successfully completed Phase 1 of the project and are now progressing with Phase 2 — an additional 28 beds scheduled for completion by winter 2025.
Our works included:
- Installation of Hot & Cold-Water Services
- LTHW Heating System, including a new boiler house
- Air Conditioning Systems
- Ventilation Systems
This project marks a significant step forward in patient recovery pathways, helping free up hospital capacity while ensuring individuals receive the right care in the right setting.
